Despite the fact that the National Institutes of Health Revitalization Act of 1993 was signed into law and directed the NIH to establish guidelines for the inclusion of women and minorities in clinical research, almost 30 years has gone by and still minorities are not proportionately represented or included in research for diseases that affect them greatly.

Today we highlight a special cutting-edge revolutionary trial which we hope can initiate a pivotal change in how clinical trial research is conducted.  We will hear from these experts in the field some of the key reasons for exclusion or underrepresentation of minorities in research, their strategy for this study, and anticipated impact and importance of including more women and under-represented minorities as Primary Investigators.

Here we have specialists from multiple disciplines to comment including: Vascular Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Vascular Surgery, and Cardiothoracic Surgery.
