Palma Shaw is Professor of Surgery at the State University of New York and member of the Division of Vascular Surgery at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. She is Program Director of the Vascular Fellowship, Director of the Venous Program and developed and leads their Limb Preservation Program. She has an Executive Master of Business Administration. She completed General Surgery training at Saint Vincents Medical Center and Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Fellowship at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. She was a Visiting Research Fellow with Dr. Frank Veith at Montefiore Medical Center. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Distinguished Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS), the Secretary General of World Federation of Vascular Societies (WFVS). She is President of the International Society for Endovascular Specialists, Member-at-large for Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, Treasurer for Eastern Vascular Society and has served as Vice President of the New England Society for Vascular Surgery. She was appointed as the SVS Advisory Liaison to the Executive Board (2022-2023) and is a Co-Founder of the SVS Women’s Section. She serves as Chair of the SVS Industry Relations Advisory Committee and on the Board of Directors for the SVS Foundation. She is Vice President of the International Society of Women Vascular Surgeons. She initiated and leads the Global Training Initiative for the WFVS and is Treasurer for the Global Companionship Program.
She has chaired numerous committees for Eastern Vascular Society, the International Relations Committee for SVS, developed and chaired the Allied Health Committee for the New England Society for Vascular Surgery and Eastern Vascular Society. She has served as a Vascular Surgery Board Examiner and participates in the Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery. Her interests include endovascular aortic surgery, peripheral intervention, venous intervention, Diabetic foot management and wound care
